Artist's Comments

The following picture is my latest attempt at creating an emission nebula. My goal with this picture was to create a nebula with a similar style to the "Eagle Nebula" with gas and dust pillars which serve as birthing centers for stars.

The picture was made with Photoshop CS3 and took about three weeks to complete.

Comments and suggestions are welcome.

Critiques

:iconsupuhstar:
This is one of the best deviations on the entire site.
It gives a convincing illusion of a telescopic photograph, if not a 3D CGI image, but is, in fact, painted with Photoshop. Your choice to use a 2-dimentional medium was daring, but it obviously works for you.

The scene is just stunning. It is unmistakably a nebula, the birthplace of stars, which, I'm sure, was the inspiration for the title. The subtle glowing effects also add to the surrealism that is naturally in this scene, ans the stars in the background give good context and are a wise use of what would otherwise be empty space.

Whatever you do in the future, I can't wait to see it.

(BTW, yay for my first critique!)

When you gaze long into the abyss, the abyss also gazes into you.
My photoshop is my passion.

Brilliant details, I almost thought it was fractal-based at first, and I was reminde dof the Eagle Nebula too, which is the nicest one in my opinion. This made even nicer with the cool new pink/brown colour combination. And the dust pillars have actual depth to them too.

Old mother Hupboard went to the cupboard to fetch her poor dog a bone.
When she bent over, Rover took over and gave her a bone of his own.

Thanks! I'm glad you like it. Yes it was brushed in Photoshop.

Thanks! The picture was definitely inspired by the Eagle Nebula which is one of my favorite Nasa shots.
